Arafufa is a large, aquatic file snake found in tropical regions. They very rarely leave the water, but sometimes move from one body of water to another. They have incredibly loose skin, which helps them sense movements of prey in the water. Females tend to be larger than their male counterparts and the size of the female determines the number of offspring they are capable of producingThey are common bushfood and theri skins are used on aboriginal drums.
Distribution & Habitat:
Tropical habitats, found in norhtern Australia, India, and throughout Southeast Asia.
Diet:
freshwater fish, including large catfish and eel
Breeding:
Biannually (1 time per 2 years). Females produce between 6 and 27 snakes per clutch, based on factors including the size of the female.
