A solid muscular and powerful snake, the black-headed python has a calm personality and makes an excellent pet. They are active snakes both day and night. Unlike many other Australian Snake species, the black-headed python eats its prey quickly.
Distribution & Habitat:
Throughout much of northern Australia where climatic conditions suit. Not found in the cooler temperate south.
Diet:
Similar to many other Australian Snakes, their diet includes small mammals, birds, reptiles, and occasionally other snakes.
Breeding:
The female lays up to 10 eggs at a time. She then coils herself around the eggs for up to 10 weeks toincubate the eggs.
