A small Non-venomous python that is found throughout much of the north and North East of Australia. The Children's Python is often kept as a pet as it's small, easy to look after and non-venomous.
Since it is a common housepet, many mistaken believe that the name children's python refers to its ease of care. Actually, It's name comes from it's dedicatee John George Children.
Distribution & Habitat:
Found from the Kimberleys in Northern Western Australia, through to Far North Queensland
Diet:
Wide range of diet including reptiles, birds, small mammals, and small bats.
Breeding:
Lays 20 or so eggs at a time with the mother coiling around the eggs to help regulate temperature until hatching time.
