The Eastern Water Dragon in a medium-sized, semi-aquatic lizard that can remain submerged underwater for up to 30 minutes. It is the largest dragon-lizard in Australia. It's coloring is grey to brown with black banding and It has a row of spines runnind down its back from head to tail. It is not a threat to humans. However, Eastern Water Dragon have seriously sharp claws and can inflict painful scratch wounds. Handle with care!
Distribution & Habitat:
Found in the coastal areas of eastern Australia from Queensland to Victoria. They generally reside around bodies of water.
Diet:
Their diet consits of vegetation, small reptiles, worms, frogs, insects, etc.
Breeding:
Eastern Water Dragons breed in the springtime near bodies of water. The female lays eggs in a moist, soil nest, away from the water. She lays 10 to 20 eggs per clutch.
