Red-bellied Black Snake ( Pseudechis porphyriacus )
The Red Bellied Black snake is a venomous species of snake found along the Eastern edge of Australia. Although it is venomous and has the capacity to kill humans with its bite, it is less venomous than many of Australia's other snakes. It's top is a glossy black, while its belly is a bright red. It can be found all along Australia's easte coast.
Distribution & Habitat:
Found along much of Eastern Australia, nearly always near reliable waterways due to it's preferred diet of frogs. Often found in the Major Cities of Eastern Australia. woodlands, forest and swamplands
Diet:
Frogs, Reptiles and Mammals. Cane toads are a major problem due the toxicity of cane toad venom.
Breeding:
They give birth to live young, usually between 10 and 40 per clutch.
